10 Reasons To Be Thankful

It's been nearly a month now since I pulled that turkey, golden and steaming, from the oven and laid the food out like a head nod to glory and even then - breathing in the haze of wafting sage and pumpkin spice - I don't think I stopped for a second to think of what I am thankful for. It behooves me to create a list; to make amends for this selfishness; to take a moment and check my heart to be sure that it is, in fact, grateful - because it matters to be conscious of our treasures!

So, I shall open my treasure box and present 10 quick reasons for me to be thankful:

The death of the leaves and how they can make the whole world seem like it's on fire with colour.
Wonderfully strange words like 'behoove'.
Johnny Depp.
The smoky smell of the wood stove and the way it's snap-crackle-pop staccatos through our home.
Laughing to the point of tears.
Every single one of you who read what I write and encourage me to keep going.
This song.
Parents that haven't stopped loving each other no matter the mountains or the valleys.
The three golden heads whose kisses can mend all manner of bad days.
The man who makes me feel like a woman whether I am at my very best or my lowest worst, who gave me those golden heads and who looks forward to our golden years with me by his side.
